La Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris (Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral) was built between 1163 and 1245 in the Ȋle de la Cité in Paris. In its eight centuries of history, it has undergone several alterations, the most important of which took place in the mid-19th century. Notre Dame has been the site of important events, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte, the beatification of Joan of Arc and the coronation of Henry VI of England. On 15 April 2019, the cathedral of Notre Dame suffered a serious fire which caused major damage. It is undergoing restoration and cannot be visited for the time being.
