The main attraction, apart from seeing the palaces, is the Danish royal guards, very similar to those of the British royal family. You can watch the changing of the guard at 11.30am on days when the Queen is in the palace. You can tell if the Danish flag of the palace is raised for the Queen.
You can visit one of the palaces, which is set up as a Danish crown museum.
