Casa Ametller: A Modernist Masterpiece in Barcelona

History and Architecture
Location Barcelona

Casa Amatller is a stunning modernist building located in the Eixample district of Barcelona. Designed by the renowned architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch and built between 1898 and 1900, it was commissioned by the Amatller family, who were known for their chocolate-making business. The family wanted a home that would reflect their wealth and status, and Puig i Cadafalch created a masterpiece that is now one of the most important landmarks of the modernist movement in Barcelona.

The building's façade is one of its most striking features. Intricate sculptures and decorative elements adorn the surface, creating a sense of opulence and grandeur. The central courtyard is another highlight, allowing natural light to flood the interior spaces. Casa Amatller is a true testament to the creativity and vision of Puig i Cadafalch and a stunning example of modernist architecture.
